TEN SIGNS OF THE LAST HOUR

Faith in the last day and what it contains of rewards and punishments is one of the articles of faith in Islam and its great foundations. He who disbelieves in  this article becomes a kaafir (disbeliever).

Allah has placed before the final Hour certain signs serves as warning about its closeness.

Indeed, prophet Muhammad (SAW) considered the closeness of the final Hour as something very great, such that whenever he mentioned it, his cheeks would be become red, his voice would rise and his irritation would intensify.  He often speak of and give reminder concerning it. The companions (RTA)  often reflect upon the matter of the final Hour.

Hudhaifa (RTA) said “the prophet (SAW) came upon us while we were reminding each other, so he said: what are you all discussing?”

We replied: “we are reminding each other of the last Hour.” When the prophet (PBUH) began to mention it often and the verses concerning its approach became numerous, the companies (RTA) feared that its occurrence will befall them (i.e. in their lifetime).

Many of the signs of the final Hour have already come to pass and much of what the prophet (PBUH) told (us) of has manifested itself.

Therefore, every passing day increase the believers in their faith and belief in prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This is due to the appearance of signs of his prophet hood and proofs of his truthfulness, all of which require the Muslims to adhere to this upright religion so that they may be prepared for this event. For verily, the Hour has drawn near and its signs have become more apparent. Allah (SWA) said:

“The Hour has drawn near and the moon has been split” (54:1)

The signs of the last Hour are divided into two according to the scholars, the MINOR and the MAJOR SIGNS.

In this post, I will like to discuss the major signs of the prophet as mentioned by the prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

We should know that the minor signs have been experienced even from the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) till this time of our and will continue till the major ones come/

In one hadith of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) he said:

“It will not come until you see TEN signs. And (in connection) he made a mention of the SMOKE, DAJJAL the BEAST ,the rising of sun from the west, the descent of Jesus son of Mary, Gog and Magog, Sinking of the earth in three places, one in the east, one in the west and one in Arabia at the end of which Fire would burn forth from Yemen, and would drive people to the place of their assembly (i.e. the place of where mankind will be assembled for judgment)." (Sahih Muslim).

These are the TEN major signs of the last hour according to the prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Therefore, as a Muslim, it is important to prepare for this time of the last hour by seeking forgiveness and sincere repentance  to Allah because the prophet said that repentance will not be useful when any of these signs comes up.
